In My Sewing Room

Great weather for ducks and sewing .... A change to weekend plans meant more sewing time Sunday and this was my result.

A Holly Cottage Christmas (Michelle Ridgway) is a finished top ... off to join my growing stash of 'to be quilted' ... love it!

Then time to touch on a UFO so  I made a few more 4 patches for my Calendar Quilt.

Earlier in the week I finished February stitches for Ruth's Quilt (Leanne Beasley) and traced off 3 tags ready for March goal.

Today is book work day and that other stuff known as housework ... maybe squeeze in a little stitching if I'm good.

FNWF Results

Last night I was busy tending my garden and fixing the guttering.

My last block of A Holly Cottage Christmas is complete ... Just needs holly berries which will be added once quilted ... only a couple days late for February.

Also late is my Christmas Tree or Crepe Myrtle ... love the purple snow on the ground. Off to the cattle yards now to be a farmers wife ... planning to visit Friday night friends later to see what kept you busy last night.

Wet Day = UFO Day

A beautiful sunshiny cloudy day with a soft drizzle breaking into a gentle shower at times ... perfect day for some sewing. Yesterday I layed out my next UFO so today I've made some 4 patches. These will have cream triangles attached eack side and sit on point between each row of months.

A lot more 4 patches to sew, fabrics are all from stash/scraps and no repeats in keeping with the calendar quilt challege for 2009, with 365 different for each day of the year.

While digging for the calendar pieces I came across another 2 UFOs that weren't on my list. First is blocks for a postage stamp quilt. I had participated in a few postage stamp charm swaps in 2012 ... packs of 100 x 2" charms (all different fabrics) sent and received from around the world. I have a design in my head.

This next one was an online monthly sew-a-long but I will need to do some research to find it's origins ... obviously an Alphabet quilt.

Takes my original UFO count to 28 for Finishing Stitches.  I'm sure there are probably more still in hiding.

Off to put the kettle on for a nice warm cuppa ... last week I wanted to live in the fridge.

FNSI Result

Flowers to help make a house a home ... at Holly Cottage.

This block of A Holly Cottage Christmas (Michelle Ridgeway) is not only the last block, it has quite a bit of embroidery to blossom ... meeting my February target.

Friday night's made more enjoyable thanks to friends and sewing ... and extra enjoyable watching the Olympics on TV.  Skate on over here to see how other's spent their Friday night.

FNSI Tonight

I'm hoping to get some stitching done tonight as long as the circling thunder storms don't knock our power out.

February Flimsy

Another one for the 'To Quilt' page and no.4 for Finishing Stitches.

Inside on a queen bed

Close up

I started this quilt 10+ years ago and worked on it again 5 years ago not knowing how I wanted to finish it. My first idea for the inner border was a tone on tone solid fabric, then when I played with it last week, a piano keys border came to mind and so it was to be.

Next 'in pieces quilt' will be ....... Calendar Quilt - commenced January 2009

Happy UFOing

FNwF Wrap

Off to a good start on my next UFO .... cutting 112 of 2.5" x 5.5" keys

... and joining them into 56 pairs.

Off for a town day in the rain today ... would have been the perfect sewing day.

Tonight's the night for stitching with friends.

Would you believe we've gone from melting on Wednesday to needing a coat today! And it's a rainy day! Perfect for some sewing.

UFOs and Finishing Stitches

Grabbing my mojo and running with it ... Joy of Days Filled With Joy hosts a monthly challenge to finish or at least work on your UFOs. Considering my collection of flimsy finishes this month I'm joining in. Visit Joy HERE to find out more.

My UFOs have been mentioned in earlier posts and are also listed on my blog pages above but to put them altogether I have written a list. Of course I'm pretty sure 1 or 2 forgotten projects could be added later.

Hmmmm, is 26 good, bad or middle of the road?  To date I have finished Calendar Bears and Jelly Roll Mystery to flimsy stage. My 3rd flimsy finish is Because I Said So (started early 2011) which I haven't had time to share till now.

Next project is a quilt I started pre 2008 with a cushion panel for the centre,  then worked the design more in 2013.

The inner border was still undecided and now I'm planning on a piano key border but of course I will need to buy fabric for those. This one I'm designing myself as it evolves.

Today for a quick project I found the squares I had cut before Christmas to make a bowl cosy but run out of time.  Ta da ... 2 bowl Cozies.

For something different, a mystery parcel needed collecting from town and I couldn't remember ordering anything.

My blog book had arrived in record time.  This one spans 2016/2017 as my posts had dwindled in number ... It's always wonderful to look back over the year's starts, finishes and memories.

Time to make a cuppa and browse a quilt book I borrowed from the library.
